Description
Introduction Of Ricovir EM 200mg/300mg Tablet:
Ricovir EM 200mg/300mg Tablet is a combination antiretroviral medicine used, together with other medicines, to treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1) infection. It is also used, together with safer sex practices, to lower the chance of catching HIV in people who are at high risk. It contains two active ingredients, emtricitabine (200 mg) and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (300 mg).
Ricovir EM 200mg/300mg Tablet is taken once a day, at about the same time every day, with or without food. Taking it with food can ease an upset stomach. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Your doctor will choose the other HIV medicines that you take with it and will decide the dose, which may be lowered if you have kidney problems.
Take it exactly as your doctor has advised, and do not miss doses, because missed doses give the virus a chance to become resistant. Do not stop taking it unless your doctor tells you to. HIV treatment is long term and does not cure HIV, and it does not stop you from passing the virus to others, so continue to use protection. When it is used for prevention, you must have a negative HIV test before you start and regular tests during treatment.
Diarrhea, nausea, headache, dizziness, and tiredness are among the most common side effects of this medicine. This medicine can affect the kidneys and weaken the bones, so regular kidney tests and, in some people, bone checks may be needed. Do not use it on its own to treat hepatitis B, and tell your doctor if you also have hepatitis B, because stopping it can cause a sudden, serious flare-up of liver problems. Inform your doctor immediately if you experience unusual muscle pain, bone pain, rapid breathing, severe stomach pain, passing much less urine, extreme tiredness, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or dark urine.
Uses of Ricovir EM 200mg/300mg Tablet:

2. Prevention of HIV infection
For people who do not have HIV but are at high risk of getting it, taking Ricovir EM 200mg/300mg Tablet every day, along with safer sex practices, lowers the chance of becoming infected.
3. Two medicines in one tablet
Ricovir EM 200mg/300mg Tablet combines two medicines in one daily tablet, which makes treatment simpler to follow and lowers the number of tablets to take.

Mechanism Of Action Of Ricovir EM 200mg/300mg Tablet:
Ricovir EM 200mg/300mg Tablet is a combination antiretroviral medication. Emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate are both nucleoside and nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors. Inside the body’s cells, each one is converted into an active form that blocks reverse transcriptase, the enzyme that HIV needs to copy its genetic material. When this enzyme is blocked, the virus cannot multiply or spread to new cells. This is how it works against HIV-1 infection and helps to prevent infection when it is used for prevention.
