Description
Introduction Of Ricovir 300 Mg Tablet:
Ricovir 300 Mg Tablet contains Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate (TDF), an antiviral medicine used to treat chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and, together with other antiretroviral medicines, HIV-1 infection. Each tablet contains Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate 300 mg.
Swallow Ricovir 300 Mg Tablet whole with water at the same time every day, with or without food. Your doctor will decide how long you need to treat your infection. For HIV, it is always taken with other antiretroviral medicines, while for hepatitis B it may be prescribed on its own. Missing doses lets the virus multiply and can make it resistant to treatment, so take the tablets regularly and do not stop until your doctor tells you to. In hepatitis B, stopping suddenly can cause a severe flare-up of liver disease.
Nausea, diarrhea, headache, and tiredness are among the more common effects of this medicine. Tenofovir can affect the kidneys and bones, so your doctor will check your kidney function with blood and urine tests, and may also check liver tests and bone health. Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver disease, or bone problems, or if you take other medicines that affect the kidneys. Inform your doctor immediately if you notice yellowing of the skin or eyes, severe stomach pain, unusual muscle pain, or very rapid breathing.
Uses Of Ricovir 300 Mg Tablet:
- Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection
- HIV-1 infection, in combination with other antiretroviral medicines
Benefits Of Ricovir 300 Mg Tablet:
1. Chronic hepatitis B infection
Hepatitis B is a viral infection of the liver. When it lasts for years, it can scar the liver (cirrhosis) and lead to liver failure or liver cancer. This tablet stops the virus from making copies of itself, which brings the amount of virus in the blood down and gives the liver a chance to heal. Taking it regularly lowers the risk of these complications.
2. HIV-1 infection
HIV attacks the immune cells that protect the body from infections. Used with other antiretroviral medicines, this tablet reduces the amount of HIV in the blood, which lets the immune system recover and lowers the risk of HIV-related illness. It helps people with HIV stay healthy and live longer, but it does not cure HIV and the virus can still be passed on to others.
Side Effects Of Ricovir 300 Mg Tablet:
Most side effects are mild and may settle as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you are worried about them.
Common side effects of Tenofovir:
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Tiredness or weakness
- Skin rash
- Stomach pain or bloating
Serious side effects are uncommon but can occur. They include kidney problems, thinning of the bones, a build-up of lactic acid in the blood, and a severe flare-up of hepatitis B after stopping treatment. Seek urgent medical help if you notice yellow skin or eyes, dark urine, severe or unusual tiredness, muscle pain, fast or difficult breathing, a reduction in urine, or bone pain. Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, bone problems, or both HIV and hepatitis B.
Mechanism Of Action Of Ricovir 300 Mg Tablet:
Ricovir 300 Mg Tablet is an antiviral medicine from the nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor group. Inside the body’s cells, tenofovir is converted into its active form, which resembles one of the natural building blocks of DNA. When HIV or the hepatitis B virus tries to build new DNA, it uses the active form by mistake, and the DNA chain stops growing. The virus cannot copy itself, so the amount of virus in the body falls. This is how it works against HIV and hepatitis B.
