Description
Introduction Of Mabtas 500mg Infusion:
Mabtas 500mg Infusion is a monoclonal antibody medicine that contains Rituximab, which targets the CD20 protein on B cells. It is used to treat non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), rheumatoid arthritis, and two autoimmune blood vessel diseases, granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) and microscopic polyangiitis (MPA). Each vial contains Rituximab 500 mg in 50 mL (10 mg/mL), and it is for intravenous (I.V.) infusion only.
Mabtas 500mg Infusion is diluted and given as a slow drip into a vein by a doctor or trained nurse, in a hospital or cancer care centre with resuscitation facilities. The first infusion is given very slowly and is watched closely. Before each dose, you will usually be given medicines such as paracetamol, an antihistamine, and sometimes a steroid to reduce infusion reactions. Your doctor will decide the dose and schedule from your body size and the condition being treated, and may combine it with chemotherapy, methotrexate, or steroids.
Fever, chills, and rash during the infusion, as well as infections, are among the more common effects of this medicine. Before treatment, your doctor will test you for hepatitis B, because rituximab can reactivate it. Avoid live vaccines during treatment. Tell your doctor if you have an infection, heart disease, or a history of hepatitis B, or if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy. Inform your doctor immediately if you notice breathlessness, swelling of the face, painful skin sores, yellowing of the skin or eyes, confusion, or vision changes.
Uses Of Mabtas 500mg Infusion:
- Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL)
- Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL)
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA)
- Microscopic polyangiitis (MPA)
Benefits Of Mabtas 500mg Infusion:
1. Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL)
In B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma, the cancer cells carry the CD20 protein. This medicine attaches to it and helps the body destroy these cells. Given with chemotherapy, it improves response rates and the length of time before the cancer returns.
2. Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL)
CLL is a slow-growing cancer of B cells in the blood and bone marrow. Used with chemotherapy, this infusion helps to reduce the number of leukemia cells and to control the disease for longer.
3. Rheumatoid arthritis
In rheumatoid arthritis, overactive B cells help drive the immune attack on the joints. For adults who have not responded well to other biologic medicines, this infusion, given with methotrexate, reduces joint pain, swelling, and stiffness, and slows joint damage.
4. Granulomatosis with polyangiitis and microscopic polyangiitis
These conditions cause inflammation of small blood vessels in the nose, lungs, and kidneys. By removing the B cells that produce the harmful antibodies, this medicine, given with steroids, helps to bring the disease into remission and protects organs from damage.
Side Effects Of Mabtas 500mg Infusion:
Many side effects can be managed with the help of your treatment team. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you are worried about them.
Common side effects of Rituximab:
- Fever and chills during the infusion
- Itching, rash, or flushing
- Headache
- Nausea
- Tiredness
- Low blood counts
- Infections, such as colds and urinary tract infections
- Muscle or joint pain
- Low or high blood pressure
Mechanism Of Action Of Mabtas 500mg Infusion:
Mabtas 500mg Infusion is a monoclonal immune response. It works by focusing on the undesirable movement of safe cells (B cells) in rheumatoid joint pain and specific kinds of malignant growths.
