Description
Introduction Of Kabidarba 40mcg Injection:
Kabidarba 40mcg Injection is a man-made form of erythropoietin used to treat anaemia (low haemoglobin levels) caused by chronic kidney disease or by chemotherapy medicines used in the treatment of certain cancers.
Kabidarba 40mcg Injection is given by a doctor or nurse as a subcutaneous or intravenous injection, using a single-dose pre-filled syringe; it should not be self-administered. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and how often you need it, based on your haemoglobin levels and response to treatment. You will typically notice an improvement in your red blood cell count within 2 to 6 weeks of starting treatment. It is important to attend all your scheduled appointments so your doctor can monitor your progress and adjust the dose if needed.
Increased blood pressure and headache are among the most common effects of this medicine. Your doctor will monitor your blood pressure regularly, as this medicine should not be used if you have uncontrolled high blood pressure. Inform your doctor immediately if you notice sudden shortness of breath, chest pain, swelling in one leg or arm, or unusual weakness, as this medicine can rarely cause blood clots.
Uses Of Kabidarba 40mcg Injection:
- Anaemia due to chronic kidney disease
- Anaemia due to cancer chemotherapy
Benefits Of Kabidarba 40mcg Injection:
Anaemia due to chronic kidney disease and chemotherapy
In chronic kidney disease, the kidneys fail to produce enough of a natural hormone called erythropoietin, which is needed to make red blood cells; a similar drop in red blood cell production can also occur due to chemotherapy. Kabidarba 40mcg Injection contains Darbepoetin Alfa, which signals the bone marrow to produce more red blood cells, helping reverse anaemia, reduce fatigue and breathlessness, and lower the need for blood transfusions.
Side effects of Kabidarba 40mcg Injection:
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them.
Common side effects of Kabidarba:
- Headache
- Increased blood pressure
- Rash
- Injection site pain
- Breathlessness
- Cough
- Peripheral edema (swelling)
- Low blood pressure during dialysis
Mechanism Of Action Of Kabidarba 40mcg Injection:
Kabidarba Injection contains Darbepoetin Alfa, a biologic erythropoiesis-stimulating protein. It works like the naturally occurring hormone erythropoietin, which is normally produced by the kidneys and signals the bone marrow to produce more red blood cells. When the kidneys are damaged or the body’s red blood cell production is reduced by chemotherapy, this medicine supplements that natural signal, stimulating the bone marrow to increase red blood cell production and correct anaemia.
