Description
Introduction Of Human Albumin 5% Infusion:
Human Albumin 5% Infusion (Albiomin 5%) is a plasma protein solution used to restore and maintain the circulating blood volume when a volume deficiency has been confirmed and a colloid is needed. It contains Human Albumin IP/EP at 50 g/l, so every 250 ml vial provides 12.5 g of albumin.
This medicine is given by a doctor or nurse as a slow infusion into a vein, usually in a hospital. The doctor selects the dose and the infusion rate according to your size, your illness, and how much fluid you have lost. It must not be diluted with water for injections, because this can damage red blood cells. Check the vial before use and do not use it if the liquid is cloudy, contains particles, or the container is damaged.
Mild allergic-type reactions are the side effects seen most often. During treatment the care team keeps a check on your blood pressure, pulse, breathing, and fluid balance. Tell the doctor or nurse at once if you feel a fever, chills, itching, a rash, or difficulty breathing while the infusion is running.
Uses Of Human Albumin 5% Infusion:
- Hypovolemia (low circulating blood volume)
Benefits Of Human Albumin 5% Infusion:
Hypovolemia
Hypovolemia means the body does not have enough blood or plasma volume, which can lead to low blood pressure and reduced blood supply to vital organs. This solution supplies albumin directly into the bloodstream, which helps bring the circulating volume back to a safe level and keeps it stable. Because it contains plasma protein, it stays in the blood vessels better than plain fluids, and the doctor may choose it when a colloid is more suitable than an artificial one.
Side Effects Of Human Albumin 5% Infusion:
Most reactions are mild and settle when the infusion is slowed or stopped. Tell your doctor if any of them continue or trouble you.
Possible side effects of Human Albumin:
- Flushing
- Skin rash or hives
- Fever
- Chills
- Nausea
- Fast heart rate
- Low blood pressure
Mechanism Of Action Of Human Albumin 5% Infusion:
Human Albumin 5% Infusion is a plasma volume expander. Albumin is the main protein in human plasma and is largely responsible for keeping fluid inside the blood vessels. When it is infused, it adds to the plasma protein content, which helps hold fluid in circulation and raises the circulating blood volume. Albumin also carries substances such as hormones, bilirubin, and some medicines through the blood. This is how it helps replace lost volume and support blood pressure.
