Vistide 375mg Injection contains the active ingredient Cidofovir and is developed by Gilead Sciences. It is an antiviral medicine used to treat cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis, a serious viral infection of the retina, in adults with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) who are intolerant of, or have a contraindication to, other medicines used to treat CMV infections.

Vistide 375mg Injection works by selectively inhibiting CMV DNA polymerase, the enzyme that CMV uses to replicate its genetic material. Vistide 375mg Injection exerts its antiviral effect by interfering with the viral DNA synthesis process. It is a nucleotide analogue of cytosine, one of the building blocks of DNA. When a virus infects a cell, it needs to replicate its DNA to reproduce and spread. Vistide 50mg  is taken up by the infected cells, and once inside, it is phosphorylated into an active form called Vistide 50mg  diphosphate.
