Description
Introduction Of Luprodex Depot 3.75mg Injection:
Luprodex Depot 3.75mg Injection is a synthetic hormone (GnRH agonist) medicine used to treat prostate cancer in men, endometriosis and uterine fibroids in women, and central precocious puberty (early puberty) in children.
Luprodex Depot 3.75mg Injection is a one-month depot formulation. It comes as a lyophilized powder with a diluent and is given as an intramuscular or subcutaneous injection, usually once every month. It must not be given into a vein. It is given by a doctor or nurse and should not be self-administered. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of treatment based on your medical condition. Continue the treatment for as long as your doctor has prescribed. Both men and women should use effective non-hormonal contraception during treatment, as this medicine can harm an unborn baby and may affect fertility.
Hot flashes and headache are among the most common effects of this medicine. In men, there may be a temporary rise in testosterone at the start of treatment before it falls, which can briefly worsen symptoms. Your doctor will monitor you for this. In women, periods usually stop during treatment. Inform your doctor immediately if you notice severe bone pain, difficulty passing urine, weakness in the legs, an irregular heartbeat, or severe injection site reactions.
Uses Of Luprodex Depot 3.75mg Injection:
- Prostate cancer
- Endometriosis
- Uterine fibroids
- Central precocious puberty (in children)
Benefits Of Luprodex Depot 3.75mg Injection:
1. Prostate cancer
Prostate cancer depends on testosterone to grow. Luprodex Depot 3.75mg Injection lowers testosterone levels in men, which helps slow the growth of prostate cancer cells and control the disease.
2. Endometriosis and uterine fibroids
Endometriosis occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside it and causes pain and heavy or irregular periods. Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous growths in the uterus. Luprodex Depot 3.75mg Injection lowers oestrogen levels in women, which helps shrink endometriosis tissue and fibroids and relieve pain and heavy bleeding.
3. Central precocious puberty
Precocious puberty occurs when a child’s body begins changing into that of an adult too early. Luprodex Depot 3.75mg Injection helps regulate hormone levels in children, which helps delay the early onset of puberty-related changes.

Mechanism Of Action Of Luprodex Depot 3.75mg Injection:
Luprodex Depot Injection contains Leuprolide Acetate, a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist. It is a synthetic hormone that acts like the natural GnRH made by the hypothalamus gland in the brain. With continued use, it lowers testosterone in men and oestrogen in women. Lower hormone levels help slow the growth of prostate cancer cells and shrink endometriosis tissue and fibroids.
