Description
Introduction Of Pegstim 6mg Injection:
Pegstim 6mg Injection contains Pegfilgrastim, a granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) used to reduce the risk of infection in patients with non-myeloid cancers receiving chemotherapy that lowers white blood cell counts.
Pegstim 6mg Injection is given as a single subcutaneous injection using a prefilled syringe, usually about 24 hours after each chemotherapy session, under the guidance of a doctor experienced in oncology or hematology. It should not be given within 14 days before the next chemotherapy cycle. Take the syringe out of the refrigerator about 30 minutes before use to reduce injection discomfort, and do not reuse the syringe. It should never be self-administered without proper training from your healthcare team.
Bone pain and pain in the arms and legs are among the most common effects of this medicine, as it works by stimulating the bone marrow. Your doctor may advise regular blood tests to monitor your white blood cell counts during treatment. Inform your doctor right away if you notice pain in the left shoulder or upper left stomach, difficulty breathing, reduced urination, unusual bruising or bleeding, or signs of an allergic reaction such as rash, itching, or swelling.
Uses Of Pegstim 6mg Injection:
- Prevention of Chemotherapy-Induced Neutropenia
- Reduction of infection risk in patients receiving myelosuppressive chemotherapy
- Reduction of Febrile Neutropenia risk
Benefits Of Pegstim 6mg Injection:
1. Chemotherapy-Induced Neutropenia
Chemotherapy can significantly lower white blood cell counts, increasing the risk of serious infections. Pegstim 6mg Injection stimulates the bone marrow to produce more neutrophils, helping shorten the period of low white blood cell counts and reduce the risk of infection during cancer treatment.
2. Prevention of Febrile Neutropenia
Febrile neutropenia, a fever occurring alongside a low neutrophil count, is a serious complication of chemotherapy. Pegstim 6mg Injection helps prevent this by supporting faster neutrophil recovery, allowing chemotherapy to continue more safely.
Side effects of Pegstim 6mg Injection:
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them.
Common side effects of Pegfilgrastim:
- Bone pain
- Pain in arms or legs
- Fatigue
- Headache
- Nausea
- Fever
- Injection site pain
- Muscle and joint pain
Mechanism Of Action Of Pegstim 6mg Injection:
Pegstim Injection contains Pegfilgrastim, a pegylated form of the growth factor G-CSF. It works by binding to receptors on blood-forming cells in the bone marrow, stimulating them to grow, mature, and be released as neutrophils. This accelerates neutrophil recovery after chemotherapy, helping shorten the period of low white blood cell counts and reduce the risk of infection.
