Description
Introduction of Vonavir Tablet:
Vonavir Tablet is a combination of antiretroviral medicines. It is prescribed to treat HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection. It boosts immunity to fight HIV and helps manage or treat AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome).
Vonavir Tablet is not a cure for HIV or AIDS; it only helps reduce the amount of HIV in your body. This helps lower your risk of HIV-related complications and improves your life expectancy. It is prescribed in combination with other HIV medicines and may also be used to help prevent HIV infection in certain individuals at high risk. Your doctor will recommend the best regimen for you and decide the dose you need. Follow the instructions for all your medicines carefully.
It can be taken with or without food, though it is often best taken on an empty stomach at bedtime for better tolerability. Taking all your medicines regularly at the right times greatly increases their effectiveness and reduces the chances of HIV becoming resistant to them. It is important not to miss doses and to keep taking them until your doctor tells you it is safe to stop.
Uses of Vonavir Tablet:
- HIV infection
Benefits of Vonavir Tablet:
In HIV infection
Vonavir Tablet combines three antiviral medicines — Emtricitabine, Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate, and Efavirenz — that work together to prevent HIV from multiplying in human cells. This reduces the amount of virus in your body, helps control the infection, and supports better immune system function. This lowers your risk of developing HIV-related complications and improves your quality of life. It is not a cure for HIV or AIDS and should not be used to prevent HIV after accidental exposure.
Mechanism of Action of Vonavir Tablet:
Vonavir Tablet combines three anti-HIV medicines. Emtricitabine and Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate work by blocking the reverse transcriptase enzyme that HIV needs to multiply. Efavirenz also blocks this same enzyme, but through a different binding mechanism. Together, they prevent the virus from replicating and producing new virus particles in the body.
