Description
Introduction Of Oxaltero 50Mg Injection:
Oxaltero 50mg Injection contains Oxaliplatin, a platinum-based anticancer medicine used to treat cancer of the colon and rectum (colorectal cancer). It is given together with other chemotherapy medicines, usually fluorouracil and leucovorin. Each vial contains Oxaliplatin 50 mg in 25 mL of solution.
Oxaltero 50mg Injection is given as a slow infusion into a vein by a doctor or trained nurse, in a hospital or cancer care centre. It is not for self-injection. Your oncologist will decide the dose and schedule according to your body size, the type and stage of your cancer, and your blood test results. Treatment is given in cycles, with rest periods between them. Your doctor will check your blood counts and liver function before each cycle, and will also watch for nerve problems.
Tingling or numbness in the hands and feet, nausea, diarrhea, and tiredness are among the more common effects of this medicine. Cold can trigger or worsen the nerve effects, so avoid cold drinks, ice, and touching cold objects during treatment and for a few days after each dose. Tell your doctor if you have had an allergic reaction to a platinum medicine, or if you have nerve, liver, kidney, or heart problems. Inform the nurse or doctor at once if you notice a rash, itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing during or after the infusion.
Uses Of Oxaltero 50Mg Injection:
- Colorectal cancer (cancer of the colon and rectum)
- Adjuvant treatment of stage III colon cancer after surgery
- Advanced colorectal cancer
Benefits Of In Oxaltero 50Mg Injection:
1. Adjuvant treatment of stage III colon cancer
After surgery to remove a colon tumour, some cancer cells may remain and cause the cancer to return. Given with fluorouracil and leucovorin after surgery, this injection helps to destroy these remaining cells and lowers the chance of the cancer coming back.
2. Advanced colorectal cancer
When colon or rectal cancer has spread to other parts of the body, chemotherapy is used to control the disease. This medicine, combined with other anticancer drugs, helps to slow the growth of the tumour and its spread, and may relieve symptoms and help patients live longer.

Mechanism Of Action Of Oxaltero 50Mg Injection:
Oxaltero 50mg Injection is an anticancer (antineoplastic) medicine from the platinum group. After it is given, oxaliplatin forms attachments (cross-links) with the DNA inside cancer cells. This prevents the cells from copying their DNA and making new proteins, so they cannot grow or divide and eventually die. This is how it slows the growth and spread of colorectal cancer.
