Description
Introduction Of Fluracil 250mg Injection:
Fluracil 250mg Injection is an anticancer medicine that contains Fluorouracil (5-FU), a pyrimidine antimetabolite. It is used to treat cancers of the colon, rectum, breast, stomach, and pancreas, usually together with other chemotherapy medicines. Each 5 mL pack contains Fluorouracil 250 mg and is for intravenous (I.V.) use only.
Fluracil 250mg Injection is prepared and given by a doctor or nurse trained in chemotherapy, in a hospital or cancer centre, either as a short injection or as a longer infusion into a vein. It cannot be taken at home or injected by the patient. Your oncologist will calculate the amount from your body surface area and decide how many cycles you need, based on the type and stage of your cancer and on how your body copes with each cycle. Doctors may test for DPD deficiency before treatment, because people who lack this enzyme can develop very severe reactions.
Mouth sores, diarrhea, nausea, and low blood counts are among the more common effects of this medicine. Drink plenty of fluids, look after your mouth, and avoid alcohol. Tell your doctor if you take warfarin or phenytoin, have heart disease, or have had a bad reaction to chemotherapy before. Contact your doctor straight away if you have a fever, severe diarrhea, chest pain, confusion, or painful and peeling hands and feet.

Benefits Of Fluracil 250mg Injection:
1. Colon and rectal cancer
Fluorouracil has been used for decades in bowel cancer. Given after surgery, it targets stray cancer cells and reduces the risk of relapse, and in advanced disease it helps to hold back tumour growth and ease symptoms.
2. Breast cancer
Used in combination regimens, it helps to destroy cancer cells and lowers the chance that breast cancer will return or spread after surgery.
3. Stomach and pancreatic cancer
In these cancers, it is combined with other medicines to shrink or slow tumours, relieve symptoms, and in some patients prolong survival.

Mechanism Of Action Of Fluracil 250mg Injection:
Fluracil 250mg Injection is a chemotherapy medicine of the antimetabolite type. Fluorouracil is shaped like uracil, one of the natural building blocks of RNA, so cancer cells absorb it easily. Inside the cell, it is converted into active compounds that block thymidylate synthase, an enzyme essential for making DNA, and some are incorporated into RNA and DNA and damage them. Rapidly dividing cells cannot copy their DNA and eventually die. This is how it works against cancer.
